ABOUT ALYSSA

Alyssa is a busy & fun-loving physiotherapist who has been working in Toronto since completing her Masters in Physical Therapy degree in 2017 from Queen’s University. Prior to this, Alyssa graduated with Honours from Queen’s, majoring in Kinesiology. Alyssa has always had a passion for health and physical well-being, and knew that a career helping others was one for her. As an athlete herself, Alyssa strives to encourage healthier lifestyles amongst her patients and is committed to helping individuals move and feel their best. If you’ve got exercise related injuries, aches and pains from working all day, poor posture, relentless back pain, arthritic changes and more -  she’s got you covered.

Alyssa’s true passion lies in pelvic floor physiotherapy. Since the beginning of her career, she has taken specialized training to treat and support women’s health and pelvic floor dysfunction. Alyssa uses various evidence-based treatment modalities, including manual therapy, taping techniques, exercise prescription and more to help patients feel comfortable throughout their pregnancy and prepare themselves for birth and delivery. Research shows that women who are taught to properly train their pelvic floors during pregnancy have labours that are shorter and less painful and recover faster.

Alyssa also works with postpartum recovery for both vaginal and Caesarean births and treats of diastasis recti or ‘mummy tummy’. Outside of pregnancy, she works with patients experiencing pelvic pain, pain with intercourse, urinary leakage, endometriosis/PCOS, menopause related dysfunction and more.

When she’s not working, Alyssa is usually jetting away on a new adventure or exploring the outdoors. She’s an avid a rugby, volleyball, and ultimate Frisbee player.
